Support Lone Star Victims Advocacy Project at a Critical Time

September 24, 2019

Help us keep our doors open.

Hello, it's Glenaan O'Neil, Director of Lone Star Victims Advocacy Project. I need to tell you about some important news.

Last month, I learned that, due to an administrative change at a funder's office, Lone Star Victims Advocacy Project has lost critical funding we counted on to keep our doors open.  The administrative change happened at the last minute, and while our team was shocked and disappointed, we immediately leapt into action because our clients are counting on us.

The families and children that reach out to us are looking for a lifeline.  They live in areas of Texas that have fewer resources for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. They are also immigrants who face unique legal challenges in accessing help. Lone Star Victims Advocacy Project serves as their remote support system.  They don't need to worry about asking for time off from work or looking for a babysitter -- we are on the phone when they need us.

In the last two years, our team of five has helped over 1600 people like Christina (right) to receive free legal services that allow them to move on from the trauma they have endured and focus on healing. Our work must continue because our clients often can't get help anywhere else.

That's why we need your help.

Our friends and supporters have organized a fundraiser for us on October 18, 2019.  Will you join us for dinner and a silent auction on October 18? When you buy a ticket to our event, An Evening to Empower, you are allowing us to continue providing families and children all over Texas urgent legal assistance.

An Evening to Empower is the first of a few events that have been planned. I'll share more details on how we plan to keep our urgent life-saving work going in the coming weeks.

Thank you for being a part of our community, and supporting us when we need it most.
