Lone Star Victims Advocacy Project is excited to announce our hire of Laura Firebaugh, our new Engagement Specialist!

Laura is dedicated to social justice and passionate about advocating for those who’s voices are not always heard or unable to speak for themselves; she is committed to shifting the power back to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.

Laura possesses extensive knowledge in regards to power dynamics in abusive relationships, crisis intervention, and safety planning.

Laura holds both a bachelor’s degree in social work from Texas State University – San Marcos and a master’s degree in social work from Texas State University at San Antonio.

Growing up as a military brat, Laura comes from a bi-cultural household and has grown up both stateside and abroad and has first hand knowledge of the unique barriers faced by immigrant communities. Laura loves to play guitar and sing, eat Korean food, and is a big fan of every animal that she comes across.

Laura's hiring was made possibly by a generous grant from the Austin Community Foundation for projects addressing the long-term recovery efforts of communities affected by Hurricane Harvey.
