Open Volunteer Opportunities


Hey friends! Can you believe how fast this summer is flying by? June came and went, July is almost over, and we're about to welcome August! As we prepare for the upcoming months, we here at LSVAP have updated our list of open volunteer opportunities and we're currently seeking out folks to help us with the following tasks:

1. Social Media & Communications Assistant

Role/scope of work: Social media, marketing, and electronic communications. This position is flexible and tasks can be completed in or out of the office.

Skills needed/proficiency: Tech-savvy and comfortability with social media; experience or interest in managing social media for business-use such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter; strong communication skills; skills in internet research; finding/creating content and sharing on social media platforms.

Reports to: Engagement Specialist

Hours needed: 1-3 hours a week

Level of urgency (on a scale of 1-10): 4

2. Graphics/ Social Media Content Creation

Role/scope of work: Create original LSVAP graphics and similar content such as event flyers, banners, etc. This position is flexible and can be done remotely.

Skills needed/proficiency: experience with graphic design; familiarity with Canva, Adobe, Infogram, or similar graphic design tools and apps.

Reports to: Engagement Specialist

Hours needed: 1-3 hours a week

Level of urgency (on a scale of 1-10): 4

3. Website/IT Volunteer

Role/scope of work: maintenance of website, assistance with tech support. This position is flexible but still may be required to come into the office for certain tasks.

Skills needed/proficiency: seeking the skills of a tech-savvy individual; experience or interest in website development and maintenance; proficiency in programs such as Wix, Canva, Excel, Photoshop, and/or LollyLaw.

Reports to: Director and Engagement Specialist

Hours needed: 1-5 hours a week

Level of urgency (on a scale of 1-10): 3

4. Spanish Translator

Role/scope of work: English to Spanish Translator to translate program materials and organization marketing materials into Spanish. This position is flexible and assignments can be completed in or out of the office.

Skills needed/proficiency: Bilingual, proficient in reading and writing in both English and Spanish; specific knowledge of specialized language surrounding crisis intervention, domestic violence, sexual assault, legal and immigration terminology would be preferred.

Reports to: legal cases- Director and/or case coordinators; social media- Engagement Specialist

Hours needed: 1 – 3 hours a week, or as needed.

Level of urgency (on a scale of 1-10): 8

5. Bilingual Translator (various languages)

Role/scope of work: Translator to assist with translation of program materials and organization marketing materials into languages other than English, such as Korean, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, etc. This position is flexible and assignments can be completed in or out of the office.

Skills needed/proficiency: Fluency in languages other than English. Proficient in reading and writing in both English and another language; specific knowledge of specialized language surrounding crisis intervention, domestic violence, sexual assault, legal and immigration terminology would be preferred.

Reports to: Director, Engagement Specialist, Intake Specialist

Hours needed: as needed

Level of urgency (on a scale of 1-10): 8

6. General Office Maintenance/Office Assistant

Role/scope of work: provide administrative support, assist with organizing office systems, filing, and a variety of special projects. This project requires an in-office volunteer.

Skills needed/proficiency: Experience and/or interest in office management; ability to multi-task; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; comfortability and familiarity with Microsoft Office, G Suite, DropBox, and Asana.

Reports to: Director, Engagement Specialist, Intake Specialist, Case Coordinators

Hours needed: up to 10 hours a week

Level of urgency (on a scale of 1-10): 4

7. Research on Country Conditions

Role/scope of work: Research on country conditions, available services for Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault/Human Trafficking survivors applying for discretionary relief. Priority countries to research in order of priority: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras.

This project is flexible and can be completed in or out of the office.

Skills needed/proficiency: proficient written and oral communication; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; possess strong critical thinking skills; understanding of research context and how it applies to LSVAP; ability to identify and analyze complex issues and/or gaps in resources. Any sort of academic writing and research experience would be preferred.

Reports to: Director and/or Engagement Specialist.

Hours needed: roughly about 10-15 hours per country

Level of urgency (on a scale of 1-10): 6
